ATM at Toronto's airport?

We'll be arriving at Toronto's Pierson airport, and are wondering if there are any ATM's right at the airport...or, should we buy some Canadian currency at a bank here in the USA before our trip? I'm sure once we're downtown we'll find plenty of ATM's, but our concern is paying the cab from the airport to the downtown hotel. Thank!

There are indeed ATM's at the Toronto airport - Royal bank has machines there for certain.

May I suggest taking the airport-downtown shuttle if you are staying at a downtown hotel? The bus comes every 15 minutes and stops at most of the major hotels (Delta, Westin, Crowne Plaza, Royal York, etc.), and it only costs $14.50 one way. Cabs I have found to be expensive (at least triple the shuttle price).

Enjoy!

Thanks for the answer, and for the suggestion! We will definitely look for a shuttle to downtown. Thanks!

The thing with the shuttle is that it's priced per person, so if there are 2 of you, it's not much more to take a flat rate taxi. If there are 3, it's definitely cheaper to take the taxi.

Taxis from the airport always take credit cards.

The shuttle is cheaper unless you have three people to share the cab. Depending on where your hotel is, the cab fare will be $35-55 CDN plus tip.

There will be just two of us, and staying downtown near the theatres. Is there a particular shuttle company to look for?

If the two of you haven't got much luggage to carry, the TTC offers bus service from Pearson's Terminals 2 and 3 to the subway and then anywhere else from there. All for C$2.25 a person (exact change!)

Hope you enjoy your trip!

Gil, I've taken the TTC bus downtown from Pearson - it's a looong bus ride, followed by a looong subway ride. It took more than hour to get to the VIA train station (which is not far from where traveler's hotel seems to be). Not only that, but unless you have a backpack, it would be ackward to do with luggage. Better take a cab or the shuttle IMHO!

Taxi or Airport Limo (limo about $10 more expensive than taxi, but the limo would have better shocks) gets my vote. It's worth the extra money. I'm from Toronto and I've tried it all; TTC, shuttles, cabs. It is a good 20-25 mins or so to get downtown at night via cab. TTC (transit system) is a great deal money-wise, but as a previous poster noted, it will seem like forever before you arrive at your final destination. You're on vacation, so treat yourself, and have fun!

i tend to agree with the last poster - at the end of a flight it is really nice to sink into a cab and to downtown it costs about $35 Canadian. what I normally do when I arrive home is to see if the big airport coach is leaving soon - there are different routes and the nearest one to downtown would be The Royal York Hotel - then I take it - its about $12.50 per person but otherwse I get in a cab. Enjoy your trip to Toronto - its a real nice city - some lovely bars and outdoor stuff at night in the Queen/Richmond/John area and its well policed

We are already home from our quick but wonderful trip to Toronto! We wanted to make the most of our time there, so chose the cab option on our airport transfers. It was so quick and convenient, and cost probably only about $10 more (for 2 of us) each way...we felt it was money well spent.
