Americans in Toronto

Do you have Friday night fish fries like we do? We are a middle aged couple coming to Toronto on our first Canadian trip this week. We plan to stay downtown, at least the first night or two. My husband would like to know where he might watch the Green Bay Packer game on T.V. Sunday (a brew pub?) Also, looking for recommendations for Thai, Italian, Mexican and/or Chinese restaurants.

Thanks for any suggestions

Be prepraed1
Tornto is a multi-ethnic riot unlike anything you've ever seen-unles you've been to Sydney or Vancouver.
Everything you want is there even fried fish-not just on Fridays though.

I can't tell you about specific fish-fries in Toronto. However, if you want fish on Friday, you can get it.

As for the Green Bay game. There would be 2 possible obstacles: 1.Are the Chargers playing at the same time? Doug Flutie is a god in Toronto since his days with the CFL; (I think they're playing a later game) and 2. Is Buffalo playing at the same time? I think they are. Sports pubs will likely be playing the Buffalo game unless they can't stand the Bills for letting Flutie go. In which case you have a good chance of asking an establishment to put the Packers game on. Failing that, if the Green Bay game is on any of the big networks you would be able to watch it in the room.

Paul and Tom,

We like all kinds of seafood. The fish fries are really an old Catholic tradition in Wisconsin.

We are looking forward to having our senses shocked in Toronto, hopefully, this weekend. Our flight was cancelled out of Milwaukee and we are working on new plans.

Haven't been to Sydney or vancouver.

We'll try not to let our admiration for Brett Favre offend any other sports fans and expect we may have to hide in our room!

Thanks for your answers!

I don't think your're planning on going outside the city, but I know in some of the parishes in smaller towns they are is very popular (fish-fries). I do miss them!

You'll find many Packers fans as well as many other NFL teams. Remember, we don't have an NFL team - yet! Don't be shy, my brother and in-laws are lifetime Cheeseheads. They're all over.
