Advice on Toronto and Niagara
My wife and i are going to be in Niagara Falls OT at the end of April. Does anybody know if Ferraros is good for dinner? If not, any other choices? Want to stay away from hotel restaurants. We're foodies.

Also, in Toronto, we wondered if anybody has stayed at the Quality Downtown Hotel on 111 Lombard St?
Hi Chuck,
Re: Toronto I stay there a lot and have tried many of the hotels (from budget to luxury.) I do not know the Quality Downtown but the Comfort Suites on Dundas (owned by the same company) is a real bargain. It is a few blocks from the subway at the Eaton Centre. The hotel is new, clean, well maintained and has a decent indoor pool. You can get good rates by going to their website and choosing internet saver rates. I hope this helps! Have fun.

Foodies go to Niagara on the Lake to eat. It's about a half-hour drive. Go to www.vintageinns.com to check out some of the small hotels there with excellent dining. The Oban Inn is one of my favorites. Can't help in Niagara Falls itself.

The Lombard Quality Hotel is reasonably modern, and reasonably well located, a few blocks walk from the heart of downtown, and is generally a bargain. It would be my second choice from this chain; there's a well-located hotel (probably labeled Journey's End) on Bloor Street West near St. George that's closer to the subway, to museums, and to the fancy stores in the Yorkville district.

The one John mentions is the newest in the chain, and I'd put that location in forth place (in between is another on Charles Street, just east of Yonge, a couple of blocks south of Bloor)
BAK

Further to the earlier note: for foodies, the Quality - Journeys - Comfort chain hotel of choice has to be the Bloor and St. George one, within walking distance of a dozen great restaurants in the Yorkville area.

Down by Lombard you'll only find mid-priced and cheap and cheerful restaurants. But, on the other hand, you are within walking distance of the St. Lawrence market, well worth a visit on Saturday morning.

BAK

I've got to learn to get all the info in a message.

As I was reading your original message, a radio commercial for Niagara Falls came out of my speaker. Try 1 - 888 - 918 - 2888 toll-free (assuming I wrote it down correctly) for Niagara Falls travel bargains and discounts.

BAK
