Dinner, Rainforest CAfe, Yorkdale Shopping Center, easy to get to via the subway, which is a treat for a kid anyway.
CN Tower is good for a few hours, and fun for adults, too.
Hot dogs and fries from a truck in front of City Hall is a good lunch in a nice place, from a kid's perspective.
CEntreville Amusement Park on Toronto Island -- god for a couple of hours, plus it involves the ferry boat ride.
The zoo is a million miles away, and expensive. The Science Centre is only half a million miles away, and expensive, but could be worth the trip if the kids are sciency types.
