2.5 days Halifax- what to see/do?

My husband and I will be in Halifax for 2-3 days, and would like some advice for what to see, where to eat, etc. We'd like to drive out of Halifax for a day, but where? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Depends on what you like to do. Halifax offers a wide range of activities. You can do whale watching, boat harbour tours, historic sites, shopping, etc. Excellent restaurants (what do you like, seafood?) A day out of Halifax I would recommend either the South Shore (towards Lunenburg) or going to the Annapolis Valley (Wolfville).

Our favorite meal in Halifax was at Salty's on the waterfront. Excellent seafood pie and garlic mashed potatoes, and a very pretty setting.

I enjoyed the public gardens in Halifax.

Are tours available when a person gets off a cruise ship in Halifax. We will arrive there at 1 P.M. and stay for six hours. Do you know of a city tour other than the one offered by NCL?
Thanks for any information.
Jean

Forget Peggy's Cove, hire a taxi and go to the site of the Titanic graves, exceptionally moving..then go to the Citadel which is a fort, have lunch on the waterfront, go to the Maritime Museum near the ship..We thoroughly enjoyed Halifac and would love to go back.
