You are all morons. The supposed troll did say when he / she didn't like Vancouver and there were other in agreement. Do your own damn search and see there has always been a wide variety of opinions on Vancouver. Or else the rest of you are new here and didn't know that.

And all of you grow up.

We have been to Vancouver many times and always enjoyed ourselves. It is not on par with London or Paris but if you want a city like that, go there. Vancouver is a friendly, clean city that borders incredible bays, mountains and rivers. We usually spend a few days in Vancouver and then fly further north to the tip of Vancouver Island. The last few times we went to B.C. we stayed at Strathcona Park Lodge out side of Campbell River and then took the ferry to some very out of the way spots and drove back to Vancouver. There is lots to see in Vancouver and you will have a great time.

we just got back from Seattle, Vancouver and Victoria and had a great time in all three. Got great deals on the hotels on priceline. Eliott Grand Hyatt in Seattle for $40, Hyatt Vancouver for $35, and Empress Hotel in victoria for $75. Check out biddingfortravel.com for recent winning bids. All three are within walking distance to area attractions. Only downside to Vancouver was the traffic but they do have fairly good public transportation. Have a good time

How can you compare London and Vancouver?

Vancouver is surrounded by mountains and the ocean. London is surrounded by smog and grotty suburbs.

I am surprised how much tourists (especially American tourists) go on about how great London is. I would swap my flat in London for Vancouver any day.

I have been coming annually from the mid-Atlantic region to Vancouver for the last 10 years and have found nothing but wonderful people who came to Vancouver from all over the world to enjoy its charms or contribute their bit to making it a clean, enjoyable city for residents and guests alike. Who could ask or expect more??? Also, the better hotels and restaurants are equal to any I've found on 6 continents. And, I'm returning 8/8/02 for another wonderful week!

And so, 'Not Me', the defence rests its case. My thanks to the volunteer witnesses.

Just got back and loved it all! We can't say enough about Bard on the Beach, a Shakespearian theater that is outstanding. Their Twelfth Night is one of the best we have ever seen and you can't beat the setting. I don't know if they continue into September but it is well worth looking into even if you aren't a fan of this type of theater. Our children (ages 11 and 15) LOVED the entire performance. Could go on an on.... Granville Island, the Museum of Anthropology, Bicycling around Stanley Park were just a few of the other highlights of our visit. Hope you have as great a time as we did!

I'm almost sorry I asked anything on this board. Surfing elsewhere to find genuine info. Thanks to the few who gave helpful and informative answers to my serious post. Unbelievable!

Hey Lynn,

Wouldn't you rather know that there are people who do NOT like Vancouver, albeit they are in the minority? Do a search here and you will find a WIDE variety of opinions on V, simiar to many other locations.

If I were researching a location, I would like to hear all sides. The majority seem to love V. I like it although it is no Montreal, that is for certain. And if I were planning a trip there for the first time, I would want to know the good points and bad perceptions, too. Duh.

The point is, you are gonna hear both good and bad on these forums. Better to hear the potential downfalls now than later after you've paid big bucks are are disspointed, too.

I agree, let's hear all sides, however it does seem really fishy that this one person is going on and on and ON (and on AND ON) about Montreal. Perhaps they live there? Non?

Just returned from 2 weeks in Seattle, Victoria, & Vancouver. Loved Victoria....very friendly people, beautiful scenery, wonderful restaurants. BUT....Seattle and Vancouver just "didn't do it" for us. Seattle's public bus system is very strange....no printed schedules seem to be available and runs are very erratic. However, Pike Pl. Market is quite enjoyable....good food at reasonable prices, and the nearby Aquarium is wonderful. Vancouver was the only place where I truly felt uncomfortable....LOTS of street people, sex shops, dirty streets, and sleaze. This was near the harbor & close to the Granville St. Mkt.--the whole experience gave me the creeps, and I agree with "Not me"...I won't go back there, either. Don't misunderstand....the scenery is spectacular, but the CITY itself leaves much to be desired, IMO. I'll take Paris or London or Madrid any day!!! But again, that's just MY opinion.

New lurker here, thought I'd jump in and test the waters. But my spelling and typing skills leave something to be desired so give me a break.
Hi there Jake, not me, and anyone else. No need to apologize that Vancouver didn't make-it for you. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally do not like New York City Gasp! Vancouver gets lots of hype; Build up anything too much and there will be an inevitable letdown. Happens in our fair city of Montreal. And we all know that Montreal RULES. So come back again some year and see if maybe you were just having a bad day. Peace.
