11 Days in Nova Scotia

Hi,

My sister and I have 11 days to spend in NS. We are flying into and out of Halifax. A few years ago, we did the "Lighthouse Trail." This time our main interest is the Cabot Trail. Any recommendations as to what sites are "must sees"? What are the towns that would be best to spend a night or two.

Is there enough to see and do for 11 days?

Thank you!

Sheila, what are your interests?
If you enjoy hiking, don't miss the Skyline Trail. It gets a little busy, but it's still awesome. You're likely to see moose here in addition to the amazing scenery. I also love the Coastal Trail, though it does involve some scrambling over rocks.
My husband and I like Oakwood Manor in Cape North as a mid-way stop. It's a lovely, old farmhouse {4 star but not too expensive}. We have stayed in both their cozy farmhouse rooms {ask for a jacuzzi bath} and their larger, modern suite. Both are excellent. Very peaceful here, and the hosts are friendly.
Don't miss the fort in Louisburg and the Bell Museum and Aemeba sailing trip in Baddeck.
I could go on and on - 11 days here would be pure bliss for me!
Hi Molly,

Thanks for the reply.

My interests.....well, chiefly beautiful ocean/coastal scenery! I don't know how much hiking we would be interested in...maybe some "light" hiking. We are both also interested in Irish/Celtic festivals, as well as great dining!

Thanks for the accommodation tip...sounds very nice and also for the sailing trip info.

Sheila

What time of year are you travelling? I can pinpoint some festivals if I have that info.

check out this website for attractions/festivals. You can pick the area that you will be focussing on (cabot trail, ceildh trail) in cape breton and find out what is happening at that time http://explore.gov.ns.ca/whattodo. Also you might want to check out Glenora Distillery for accommodations and a tour of Canada's only single malt whisky distillery www.glenoradistillery.com
