Multi Pass for a week? Airport gate Fees?

We are arriving for 3 nights into Sydney (International Terminal) - leaving (to Auckland), and returning for one night stay and departing from domestic terminal (to continue on to Cairns)- all under a week.
I see I can get the Multi Pass weekly for $43 when I put in fare options from International Airport to Museum (Our Hotel both stays) - Seems to make sense to buy a weekly pass for our two visits - Does that include the Gate Fee or do we pay that each time? Does it matter if we fly out of Domestic Terminal after arriving at International?
Does any of that make sense? Kind of confusing.... Thank you!!!

Our crazy itinerary is due to using Frequent Flyer Miles...and wanting to be in Auckland over the weekend for my friend who lives there...

Hi Jeepsterchick,

The Multi-pass does not include the Gate Pass ($12 single entry), so it may be an expensive proposition to use the rail. The reason for this is that the Airport Line and stations are privately operated, even though they use the same City Rail banner, and the Gate Pass is the subsidy for the operation.

In effect, the MyMulti1 7-day pass is $43 plus $12 for each Gate Pass, per person. So in your case it will be $43+12+12 = $67 for 2 trips to the airport, per person.

In contrast, a single trip on the Airport Line from the airport to any City Circle station (including Museum) is $15.40 (http://www.airportlink.com.au/direct...ydney-city.php).

The city is not that far from the airport (about 16km), so a taxi may be more practical especially if you've got lots of bags.

Hope this helps.

Gate pass aside, we found the the multi pass convenient and economical for 3nights/four days in Sydney. Easy to just pay once, then board any bus or ferry without further ado. We chose the option that took us a far as the Blue mountains by rail and did that as well.

Depends on where you are staying and where you intend to visit. If you are in walking distance of where you want to go, it may not be worth your while to get a pass instead of individual journeys. No it does not matter if you are flying in internationally and the departing from Domestic. The stations are one apart from each other.

Thank you so much for all the info. Am I reading the website correctly? - if I buy a weekly multi pass, I may also buy a weekly airport pass for $18.60? - Total price would be $61. The same price as buying r/t airport ticket 2x alone? Which we will need, popping in/out of Sydney 2 times within a week. Seems too good to be true for us? Assuming we can get the multi Pass at the Airport.
The Convenience of the multi Pass does sound appealing too!
Thank you again!
