What Part Of Australia To Visit In August?

Melbourne will be cold, wet and windy in August with top temperatures about 16. Alice Springs will be in mid-twenties (celsius) during the day and very cold at night.
This is why many retired Melbournites go to Northern Territory during our winter.

Hi, John!

Cairns... now you're talking! If I were coming to Australia in August and I wanted to see some sunshine, I would definitely head up north... Brisbane and points north of there. There's not much rain at this time of year, and, as you suspect, the temperature never drops too far up there! The interior will be warm in the day, but the nights won't be very pleasant. The Reef is your best bet.

Hi John, I agree with everything Alan has put forward.
Alice Springs will be okay during the day but cold at night.
Most people fly into Alice for a couple of days site seeing (bus tours.) then fly down to the rock over night then on to Sydney or Qld.
Have a good one.
We had three weeks in Cairns last July - perfect weather. Shorts and t-shirts every day. I think we may have had a light shower or two overnight but each day was magnificent. You know what they say about Queensland, beautiful one day, perfect the next.
Actually in August, anywhere in Queensland would be good as far as the weather is considered.
Hope you have a good holiday where ever you go.
