West Coast South Island

We plan on taking our caravan out for a week from Nov 15th -22nd, so just a couple of weeks away. Thinking of West Coast, Carters Beach area, Karamea but wondering if there is enough to see and do for the week. We live in Nelson and really should know this stuff but I am drawing on the resources of Fodorites who may have spent some time on the Coast during their trips around NZ.

Any tips appreciated or links to trip reports.

Well no responses on here, but were planning to do one night at Punakiki, two nights ant Karamea and three nights at Carters Beach. However the West Coast has bee getting a lot of rain, and more was forecast for the week we were going to be there. We decided we would do this another time, and instead went and stayed at Waikawa Bay just out of Picton, and also did two nights at Momorangi Bay on Queen Charlotte Drive and it was just so beautiful. We took a 4 hour boat trip from Picton one day out to Motorua Island which was really good. Got to see dolphins, and some rare birds. Did the tour with E-KO tours.
