Using my mobile in NZ

I've been told that I can easliy get a prepaid sim for my phone when I get to NZ. Not having done anything like this before I just wanted to know. Will any SIM card work with my Samsung O2 phone. Do I just load it with a few dollars for data and calls. Will I have a new number for anyone to contact me on. Finally if someone's calls me from the uk, do I get charged, and do they get charged more for making the call
thanks

Check to see how much it costs to roam in in NZ, the prices have been coming down.

If you buy a NZ sim card, the person calling you has to pick up the cost of an international call, it is free for you and of course you will have a new number which you need to communicate to everyone

if you keep your UK o2 sim card, then people calling you will not be charged but you will be charged as an international call from UK to nz

To use a new SIM card in NZ you need to make sure your phone is "unlocked", ie not tied to the O2 network. These days all sims are 3 in 1 and will fit your Samsung. I am with O2 and have used their "travel bolt on" occasionally. Here is the link https://www.o2.co.uk/shop/internatio...g-phone-abroad basically, it costs £4.99 per day and you can use it as though you were still in the UK. You only pay for the days you use it but it does work out pretty expensive if you are using it every day.
