Uluru - Visiting the Rock

While staying at Uluru, is one supposed to visit at sunrise, sunset or both?????

The overall effect is similar. I prefer sunrise, as the shadows cast in the opposite direction, highlighting more features when viewed from locations near the visitor/cultural centres.

OK - here's another opinion...I preferred sunset. The tour I was on did both - sunrise was then followed by the tour. Sunset was on our way back from Kings Canyon (we were camping very near Uluru). I was glad I got to see both.

Hi Dovebear..Both is the answer. A truly magic place .Enjoy! Please do the walk around the rock rather than the climb.

agree with peteralan. sunrise & sunset were incredible, each changing the color of the rock in different ways. and the walk around the rock was amazing as well, as you get to see all the textures of the rock up close and experience how big the rock is (3/4 of the rock is actually still underground!).
