We visited Bali 7 years ago (it's been a while). The island is truly a paradise. Beautiful; Ubud is a must. My husband agrees Bali is more beautiful, peaceful, and a nicer vacation destination. However, he loved Thailand as well. He said women are particularly nice and beautiful. Bali has great food, too!
I have spent a week in Indonesia and weekends in Thailand. If you want a beautiful scenery, no stresses, local culture & tons of friendly native people - Bali. In Thailand I have only been to Bangkok myself and that is a nightmare - all the jokes you hear about how awful the transportation is - true. I hear the beach areas are nice, but I fell in love with Bali.
It depends on the type of action you are looking for. I plan to go to end up in Bali and skip Thailand altogether. I am looking forward to some peace and quiet from the bustling and overly crowed streets of seoul.
Dear Ty,

I live in Thailand, so, please feel free to consider my suggestion as a full-of-bias.

I don't mind if you still want to spend your vacation in Bali.

Just want to suggest that Thailand has more choices for you to enjoy. From beaches to mountains, diving to trekking, Any kind any type of activities, just name it.

It's absolutely true that Bangkok might be boring for those who can't endure to traffic jam. But Thailand has 76 provinces, man. There's plenty of nice places to welcome you at an unbelievably cost.

But the decision is yours, enjoy!
Hi!
My husband and I are going to Bangkok over the New Years time. I want to go shopping! What type of items are good to buy in Thailand. Also, what type of pricing can I expect. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You sound exactly like me when I was there in '96. For $1,100 I went to Hong Kong for 3 days, Phuket Island (Thailand) for 5 days, and Bangkok for 3 days. This price included air, nice hotel and breakfast in hotel, which was quite a big spread. If I were to do it over again I would cut out Bangkok and spend more time in Phuket Island (Hawaii of Asia). I was in the Army at the time, so could give you more details if you e-mail me.
