Te Papa will charge international visitors admission
Up until now general admission to Te Papa, New Zealand's National Museum, has been free for all, but from September 17 international visitors aged 16 and over will be asked to pay a NZ$35 entry. " 'Visitors would self-identify their nationality and will not need to present ID,' " Te Papa said in a news release."
More details here.
For those who have not been here: Te Papa is a wonderful museum in a scenic location on the capital city's beautiful waterfront with exhibitions that appeal to all ages.

Oh wow, I didn’t realize Te Papa was introducing an admission fee for international visitors! It’s been such an iconic spot with free entry for everyone, so that’s a bit of a change. But honestly, with how incredible their exhibits are and the stunning waterfront location, I’d say it’s still worth every penny. For those who haven’t been, it's an awesome place for all ages, and now might be a good time to visit before the charge kicks in on September 17!

As a general point of principle, I really don't like this this move towards charging foreign visitors to enter museums. Surely visitors to New Zealand bring in enough tax revenues to cover their share of the cost of running these institutions without the need to fleece them further? It would certainly put me off visiting.
