Tasmania in Easter
Hi all,
Will be going to Tasmania next month 9-15 April inclusive.
Flight:
Sydney - Hobart
Launceston - Sydney
Acco:
Hobart - 3 nights
Bicheno - 1 night
Launceston - 2 nights...
Accomodation (serviced apartments) and rental car have been booked.
Planning to go to Hobart surrounds, Port Arthur, Coles Bay, Bicheno, Launceston.
Is a day trip possible from Launceston to Cradle MOuntain (Dove Lake)..
Would everything be closed (supermarkets, petrol stations) during the easter break.
And does tasmania have (Easter) Tuesday off as well?
Do we need to pre-book the James Boag's brewery tour? Is it worth going?
How about the Lavendar farm near Launceston?
Too many questions.. any answers and tips would be much appreciated.

Navnov,
yes, its possible to do a day trip to Cradle Mt., from Launceston allow about 5-6 hours return for the trip with a couple of stops along the way.
Most shops and service stations etc are shut on Good Friday, although its not impossible to find these services - ask at your accommodation to pick up local knowledge. Opening hours tend to be shorter over the remainder of the Easter break. Tuesday is a Bank Holiday during which banks and government offices and some small businesses are closed. Major retailers, servos and supermarkets will be open usual hours.
Bridestowe Lavender Farm near Launceston is at its best in December-January when the lavender is in flower, more info here, http://bridestowelavender.com.au/mai...nt/view/18/35/
Happy planning,
Pol

We were in TAS over Easter one year and just about everything was closed on Good Friday, including supermarkets, restaurants, petrol stations, etc. We had a hard time finding an open petrol station to fill up our rental car before heading to the airport on the Saturday before Easter, so I would imagine you're going to run into plenty of closures.
Bear in mind that businesses that do remain open (such as restaurants) charge a 10-15% surcharge on public holidays as they have to pay their staff more.
Per the following site, TAS does have Easter Tuesday off as well.
