Tasmania & North Sydney
We will be in Australia Feb 16th-March 4th. Any accomendation recommendation for Oour arrival in North Sydney? Also going to Tasmania, would you suggest going beginning or end of trip? Also any room accomendation. We don't need 5 star but would like a place with pool or water view. Most inportant is easy access and clean. Thanks in advance for any help.

When you say North Sydney margie do you want to be right in near the Sydney CBD or more out northern suburbs way where you could get accommodation at a number of beach locations from Manly to the north - that would be the ideal for February/March when it'll be close to as warm as it gets.
And for Tassie it's a bit of a toss up for Tassie can have hot weather during that time as well so whatever suits really.
http://www.sydney.com.au/ has a few links to accommodation .

Not that I have stayed there, but I'd reckon the Novotel would be as good as most - note
ite says rooms are being renovated but no date on that and I'd reckon they would be already done not to interfere with high season bookings.

And for sure get a car for Tasmania as touring about is the way to go, plenty of cabins motels and quaint country hotels you'll be able to choose from with not too much to worry about re finding places as you go but along with Frecinet, Cradle Mountain is very popular and so book those kind of places:

Seeing as you've not got a huge ammount of time, 5 days or so should allow you to fly into Launcestion and drive over to Cradle Mountain, maybe a couple of nights there and then drive over to Frecinet/Wine Glass Bay for a night or two and then head down to Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula and back to Hobart and fly out from there.
Not saying to stay here but the home page has a good birds eye shot of Manly cove ferry terminal, the Corso heading off slightly to left and the Pacific Ocean on other side of the Peninsula.

Re the Rocks walkabout, http://www.therocks.com/sydney-Educa...s_Pub_Tour.htm may give a guide but Sydney Visitor Information Centre is in heart of Rocks just on right of Argyle Steps street that runs off George Street about opposite end of Ferrie Wharves.
If you go to Manly and Novotel/Accor do not run an airport shuttle, to save yourself a whopper taxi fare, take the airport train all the way to Circular Quay station [the Quay being ferry terminal] and then get yourself a day pass that includes ferries/trains/buses and take the ferry to Manly and you could walk the corso - it's nice and level but a bit of a hike and if hot there'll probably be taxis at the ferry terminal that end.
It'll mean getting a ferry ticket each time you go across to the CBD but it's a great relaxing way to see the Harbour.
