Tasmania

We are heading to Tasmania early next year, just wondering has anybody stayed at the Gordon Gateway in Strahan? If so, what's your opinion of it.

jfos, sorry I haven't heard of the Gordon Gateway at Strahan. It must be a new hotel/motel or an old one with a new name.
I can recommend the cottages close to the Strahan Hotel, which are new, but made to look like old seamens cottages.
Enjoy Strahan & the Gordon River Cruise, etc, one of the "must sees" of Tasmania.

Absolutely agree with the above poster - stay in the Cottages of the colony, they are close to everything and are very lovely.

The other wonderful place to stay in Strahan is the Waterwheel apartments. Perched overlooking the water, stunning! www.wheelhouseapartments.com. We much preferred them to the Cottages of the Colony, which are right on the main street. Here is a link to the trip report I did for my recent trip to the area. http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34481107

jfos,
We stayed at the Strahan Wilderness Resort ina self contained cabin. The sun rise above the small inlet was a great wake up call.
