Tas: the Old Woolstore accommodations

We are booked at the Old Woolstore in Hobart in April for a few days and it sounds like it will suit us well.

But I have looked through many travel books, hotel websites and on this site for comments (1) on the Old Woolstore hotel/apts. and they are almost non existent. What there is good.

Does anyone have comments about why this hotel has so little on it?

The Woolstore is fairly new - built from/in the old Woolstores it works like a hotel but with all apartments. Clean and comfortable with all appliances and aircond.
It does not have a view, which is the only drawback, but it is within a short walk to the wharf and Salamanca Place
I have stayed there twice and was very happy with the place. The only other accommodation I would rather stay would be Oakford on the Pier but I think the cost difference is considerable.

Janese,

Thanks for information. When you say appliances does that mean one can cook a light meal if desired or just snacks?

There is a full sized stove ( cooker) a microwave, dishwasher, fridge etc so you can cook as big a meal as you would want or you can get a meal downstairs at the restaurant.
I am *pretty sure* that there is a TV in both the bedroom and the lounge and there is a CD player as well in the lounge. The washer and dryer are in the bathroom.

we stayed at the Old Woolstore a few weeks back for 2 nights and it was a good deal - we were upgraded to a studio - even had washer/dryer - booked thru www.wotif.com.au for 165AUD - excellent value but like someone has pointed out no view...

I stayed at the Woolstore on New Year's Eve 2001/2. I had done the Overland Track and finished in Hobart at 7pm, grabbed some fish and chips at Fish Frenzy (yum!) and barely made it back to the hotel for a nice, hot bath and a good kip! The Woolstore was great, and view is only for those who want to spend daylight hours in their hotel room! The beds were comfy, the bathtub big. After a week camping (that was the year the big snow hit Tassie over Christmas!) a clean, warm place was a treat.

I'm telling you....Fish Frenzy on the pier.

Thank you for the positive responses to my question about the Old Woolstore in Hobart. We will definitely stay there since we agree with pixiechick "view is only for those who want to spend daylight hours in their hotel room!" Fish Frenzy, here we come.

Thanks all for your comments and best wishes for a happy travelling new year.
