Sydney Pub Guides & Luggage Storage
Our departure for Oz is rapidly approaching. With the kind help of many who post on this site, for better or worse, we've make most of our committments. But, a couple (and probably not the last) questions remain:
1. Is there a readily available pub guide for Sydney? Initially we'll be in Surry Hills, and later in the Rocks area. We'll sample a few of the better restaurants, but would also like to enjoy pub fare.
2. Are there baggage storage facilities at/near Central Station? We'd like to leave one or two pieces when we depart for Newcastle, then on to Lemon Tree Passage and Port Stephens(thanks for your help Paul_S), before returning to Newcastle and back to Sydney. We've inquired about leaving luggage at the hotel from which we'll leave (but not be returning to stay)- so far no response.

Don't know about the pub guides, sorry, but do know that there is a luggage storage facility at Central Station.
The weather in Newcastle has been wonderful - Spring is sprung and life if good, with everyone on a high after a successful Olympics. I wish you a happy trip.

There is a book called "Sydney Pubs" - my copy's dated 2000. Don't know if it's been updated. And luggage storage - can't place where it is at Central Stn - but as a backup there are lockers at the Greyhound/Macaffertys bus terminal at street level beneath the station.

Many thanks Carrabella, Jane_47, New_Guy and Alice 13.
Don't know if I'll be able to leave next week.........may still be trying to sort through the sites for all the pubs! I'll get to Sydney and won't want to leave.
The confirmation of storage space at Central Station really helps. The hotel I'll be using has responded positively, so I may not need it. But, if I do, that removes the uncertainty.
Your help is really appreciated.

Also pubs in Balmain are worth a mention.
Out of the way pubs that deserve a mention are the Narrabeen Sands Hotel, Newport Arms, Como Hotel and of course Watson Bay Hotel on a Sunday Afternoon.
But in closer to town like Surry Hills, the Rocks and Balmain if you don't like one you can walk to the next corner and try another one out.
Aslo try some clubs but have reommendations for those. Maybe Bondi Icebergs but haven't heard anyhting since it was revamped. Another was I used to go to was Mosman Rowers. Nice spot. Just aferry ride from downtown.
