They all offer something different and whichever you choose I'm sure you'll enjoy the visit. Briefly - Sydney is vibrant and busy and the harbour is spectacular. Melbourne is huge and tends to have a European feel about it. Perth is isolated from the rest of Australia and is situated on a magnificent river. Brisbane is also on a river and as a tourist spot has a lot to offer. What about Adelaide, that city too is well worth a visit. Our youngest daughter travelled overseas and went back to Adelaide, where she was born, with the intentions of staying for a few months and then going back to Europe. She fell in love with Adelaide and decided to stay. Adelaide is surrounded by beautiful hills, and within an hour's drive there are many day trips including the southern vales, Flieureau Peninsua, the Barossa Valley, Kangaroo Island, the River Murray, just to mention a few.

Hi Tonya,
Each city has it's own personality offering you a different outlook. With only 7 days however I would definately recommend Sydney. There is certainly a lot to do and see.If you get sick of the city life the Blue Mountains are only a couple of hours away as is the wine region of the Hunter Valley. There are lots of days tours you can go on if you dont have your own transportation. The Harbour is a sight to behold and a definate highlight for any tourist or local would be the Harbour Bridge climb. Its a tad expensive but worthwhile.Melbourne is also a great place to visit and not far to fly from Sydney. You may like to split your time and visit both but with only 7 days its not enough time to do both places justice.Brisbane on the other hand even though nice is rather quiet and not a whole lot to do.Hope you enjoy your visit.

Hi, My husband and I were in Australia last August/September and stayed with my aunt in Brisbane for a while. Although a nice city (reminds me a little of Vancouver) there is not a lot to do and the sights within quick driving distance are beaches (Sunshine Coast & Gold Coast).

Hi Tonya,
I am 26 and not a big fan of the beach either... born and bred in Sydney, I have been living in Melbourne for 3 years now. It all depends on what you are looking for in a 7 day stint in a country... are you looking for night life, shopping and crowds in that order? Then check out Sydney, the place goes crazy! If you are looking for culture, romance, beautiful shops, and an all round delightful experience, then please head to Melbourne, it can offer all that, plus the night life of Sydney (definitely go to a night club called QBH located in Queensbridge Street, Southbank.. it is the largest club in the southern hemisphere and it rocks). Adelaide is known as The City of Churches, and that could give you an idea of what lays ahead there, and Brisbane.. well in all honesty forget it.
Hope this helps a little. If you choose Sydney or Melboure, send me an email and I can help you find more info for the time you are going to be around.
See ya.
