sydney hotels

Any suggestions on an upscale place to stay in the Rocks/Quay area? We are open to boutique hotels and bed and breakfasts in addition to regular hotels. Thanks!

we stayed at both the Shangri-la and the Four Seasons this past christmas/New year. In the Shangri-la we had a premier harbour view deluxe room, sweeping views of the bridge and harbour FABULOUS. The four seasons is in a slightly better location (at the bottom of the hill and over the road from circular quay) I did prefere the S-La though because of the room. We got a great rate which included breakfast i booed it month in advacne ). check out their web

My husband and I stayed at The Observatory Hotel from 9/14-20/2001. The staff and especially the concierge could not have been nicer. The pool is magnificent! We liked the quieter neighborhood up in the Rocks area.

Here's another vote for The Observatory. We were there forseveral days last Autumn and enjoyed it very much. Wonderful & helpful staff and great Concierge service.

On our previous trip we stayed at the four seasons and it too was a very nice hotel but we prefer the smaller size of The Observatory.

Have not long returned from Sydney and we stayed at the Travelodge on Phillip Street near the Supreme Court. It's right in the heart of Sydney and only a short walk to the Rocks etc. It was really good value for money - and quiet and very clean. I'll definitely stay there again.

Check out Mantra on Kent. It has only just opened and is offering some really good deals. We got a one bed apartment for 129AUD per night. Large lounge with full kitchen, separate bedroom, small study, laundry room, bathroom with shower and tub. Fantastic value for money.
