Singapore Hotels
Hello
I'm thinking about going to Singapore for a short break in October. Its been a few years since I have been there and would like recommendations on any nice hotels in the upper range. Has anyone stayed at a hotel lately that they could recommend? I stayed at the Elizabeth Hotel last time, which was very nice, but I wonder if there is anything new and outstanding? Thanks for your help.

Hello
Thanks for the info. I have heard that the
Intercontinental is great. It's so hard to decide where to stay in Singapore. I'm one of these people that enjoys a nice hotel as much as the holiday. Afterall you pay so much to stay in them! Thanks again.

Sean, have not stayed there but its a new hotel with great view. You are near to Millenia Walk and Suntec City. Walking distance to MRT. There's lots of Restaurant inside Suntec. For sights - go to the night zoo, Sentosa. Contact me if you want more info.

Sean: There is so many restaurants here and the price are not cheap. Holland Village (take a bus or cab there)is quite a good area like Greenwich Village in a small way. THen Boat Quay (take the train to Raffles Place), a peranakan restaurant/indonesian serve delicious food. Suntec have a lot of restaurant inside, both east and west combine. Then there is the ever hawker center at or near HDB area. Most local great stuff are only reacheable by bus or taxi. Enjoy....... i'm sure you won't miss anything. OH yah...... the curry house in Little India.

When you talk about the upper range, I'm not sure what you mean. However, very nice hotels in S'pore are the Sheraton on Scotts Rd.; Shangri-La; Regent; Goodwood Park Hotel. With the exception of Shangri-La, all are in walking distance to Orchard Road. Hope this helps.

Hello Marge
By using the term 'upper range', I meant hotels such as the Sheraton etc. You hit the nail on the head so to speak. Thanks for the info. One hotel that I have heard about is the Hotel Phoenix on Orchard Road, has anyone heard anything good or bad about it? Thanks everyone.

Glen: Phoenix Hotel is connected to The Specialist Center, next to Sommerset MRT and opposite side is Center Point. Undestand that it is a very tourist type hotel but its next to everything. Mandarin Hotel which is next to Takashimaya ( big shopping center )would be much better if you want a better hotel.
