I have not stayed at Daintree Eco Lodge but I did stay at Silky Oaks this past February. Silky Oaks was wonderful. Very beautiful property. The dining room is built on stilts over the river. If you do decide to stay there I would recommend requesting a room facing the river. Some of the rooms do not face the river, ours did not. It was still very nice. The food and service were excellent. Its a very peaceful setting. While you are in northern Queensland I would also recommend taking a helicopter to Quicksilver. Quicksilver is a permenant dive/snorkling boat on the Great Barrier reef. The helicopter ride was amazing--flying along the coastline and then over the reef. Definately worth it. It can be set up at Silky Oaks Lodge. Hope this helps and have a great time!

I have stayed at the Daintree Ecolodge and I have been to visit Silky Oaks. Silky Oaks has more of a hotel feel to it. It has about five times the number of rooms and is not nearly as remote as the Daintree. Daintree only has about 10 or 15 rooms and all are up on very high stilts so your room is actually up in the canopy. Some of the rooms at Silky are like this, but most are not. Also, Daintree is actually in the rainforest while Silky is at the end of a road that goes through a bunch of sugar cane fields. There are lots of trees and flowering plants that may give the idea that you are in the rainforest, but you are not.

In terms of being "upscale" they are about the same, however, Daintree is more of a wilderness lodge.
