Perhaps it would help if you outlined what exactly is the 11 Day Best of Australia Scenic tour. I cannot see how any tour of 11 days could cover the best of Australia actually.

I guess they have to call it something, and 11 days is about all most American visitors can manage because of the parsimonious vacation time most US companies provide.

I made a quick visit to their website - it's an Australian company BTW - but oculdn't find a "Best of Australia" package.

queener, if you have more time up your sleeve you might like to consider the DIY option. Australia is very easily navigable, but very big, and you may be able to construct an itinerary more suited to your tastes*.

Unfortunately, most enquiries on this forum are from people taking the DIY route. If you provide some more information, we may be able to comment on the itinerary.

* You don't say where you live, but if you're in the USA an option is to visit www.australia.com and locate an "Aussie Specialist" travel agent in your area.

Yes, please do say what this "best of Australia" tour covers.

As other have said the concept of "11 days" and "Australia" don't fit together well.

I mean, an 11 day tour of a small island like the UK would be a bit whacky imho; and what would you think of an 11 day "best of" tour of the USA?

Get more time and do it yourself.

Honest!!

Ok - I'm in Australia for work for 2 weeks and then my husband is joining me for 15 days at the end of my work stay. The "Best of Australia" 11 day tour put on by Scenic Tours was the only one that fit into our schedule. The trip spends 2 days in Melbourne, 2-3 days in Ayers Rock area; 3-4 days in Cairns area and then to Sydney. We will have extra days in Sydney area before we fly home and I will be there for 2 wks before husband arrives. Yes, we don't get as much vacation as the rest of the world, but do try to get out and see what we can when we can. I was asking more about the tour company and their reputation if anyone has used them. thanks to anyone with information on the company.....

You do NOT need a tour company to do that tour - it would be better AND cheaper to do it youself as its as easy as 1,2,3
If you take a look at some travel brochures you will find areas that you would prefer to see and its easy as, to get to them and sort out accommodation as well. You don't say when you are coming either and that makes a BIG difference in where you should go.

Then definately I would NOT be going to Ayers Rock as it would be far too hot and far too many flies. Not the best time for the GBR but its not that bad either as it would be before the rainy season. Not the best time for Melbourne either as it tends to brown in summer and lose a lot of its niceness when not green.

hello again,

No idea about the company but it's not a bad itinerary - I guess it's just the title that is misleading.

It's a shame it doesn't go the other way around - Cairns, Uluru, Melbourne. I've been to Cairns in mid November and it was muggy and warm but sea conditions were good. Nobody can say exactly when it will start raining but late Nov/early Nov would have to better than 50/50, don't you think, Lizzy?

And I've been to Uluru in January and it was perfectly manageable. At all times but mid-winter you walk early and late - so no big deal there unless you are seriously cold climate people.

Normally I'd be putting my hand up to say "do it yourselves" and you could, but if you want a quick overview then why not?

Thanks Afterall. We certainly don't mind the heat. Welcome it since we're from Minnesota where it's cold. I'm just ready for a no-brainer tour as I don't have the time (seriously) to plan this one. I always plan and do European trips on my own, but just don't feel like it this time around....

Wish someone would chime in who has used this company....

Scenic Tours are a very professional
touring company with offices all over the world so you should have no qualms booking with them.
We have friends who use them exclusively and travel every year and each time come back raving from wherever it was that year.
