We stayed at the Russell for 4 nights in early January. We had a big room up at the very front of the hotel and it was hot so we had the windows open for the breeze - but also for the noise. Our travelling companions had a quiet (but hot) room at the back of the hotel. Their room was en suite - ours wasn't. I'm sure we slept better. The hotel is in a great location, fun wise. Which is why it is noisy. There is a Holiday Inn down the street and a Hyatt further on. Good luck!

We were booked to stay at the Russell lsat year. (you can do a seach on this forum) It is in a great location but already mentionned it has no air conditioning and can be noisey. In the meantime the new Westin hotel (about 15 min from the water)was offering a rate lower than the Russell so we stayed there instead. We had a tour of the Russell while in Sydney and it has character and location but the Westin was nicer and we would stay at the Westin again depending on price.

Laurie

hi, we stayed at the harbour rocks just down the street from the russell. it also didn't have air condition, but i thought a less noisy location that the russell. they have family rooms (which we stayed in) with a queen bed and 2 singles, if this helps.
the rocks is a great location to stay in. it was really convenient for just about anything, esp. the harbour.
have fun.
