Quick meal between Melbourne Airport and Mulgrave?

Hi,

We will be arriving at Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport on Sunday 23rd December at 7pm. We're picking up a hire car and driving to Mulgrave to stay with family.

We wanted to stop and get some dinner (quick and easy, rather than fancy), but not go too much out of the way.

Can anyone suggest anywhere that would be worth a shot, rather than us driving round half the night looking for somewhere?

Many thanks,
Violet

Eat at the airport .The domestic terminals have places other than fast food outlets. Otherwise you will be too late at most places to get a meal on a Sunday night without detouring to Carlton , South Yarra , Fitzroy or Southbank and that all takes time , parking fees ( perhaps )etc .

I'd second the eat at the airport advice. You don't say where you are arriving from, but if you're tired be aware you're also arriving at an awkward time in the evening and to find a place would require quite some driving (the airport is on the outskirts of the city).

Melbourne has some fantastic restaurants, it's known as the foodie capital of Australia, so maybe save that for another time......

I'd eat at the airport before picking up your hire car. There is a Asian food stall on the departure level between the food court and the international departure area. We often get a meal there as the food as cooked while you wait - not sitting around on a hotplate for several hours.

Once you leave the airport, you will be on freeway until you reach Springvale Road. If you prefer to wait, the Glen Waverley shopping area (on Springvale Road between High Street Road and Waverley Road) has about 40 restaurants and caters for every one's choices. But by the time you get there, you will be almost in Mulgrave.
Hope you enjoy your stay in Melbourne.

That's a great help.

We're only flying from Sydney that day so shouldn't be tired, but just don't want to arrive at the relatives too late. We're in Australia for almost 4 weeks, so will have plenty of time to sample some of Melbourne's restaurants.

Thanks for the advice.
