Qamea or Taveuni Island Resort?

Or any other suggestions... We originally wanted to stay in the Yasawas but after talking to a friend who has been to Fiji, she suggested staying at either Qamea or Taveuni. We are going in Jan/Feb 07. How much does it usually rain in the Taveuni area at this time? I know it's rainy season, but will it completely ruin our trip? We went to Tahiti during rainy season and it only rained one evening, but from reading, it seems this is not the case in Fiji. Do either of these resorts rank better over the other in terms of value, food, accomodations, beaches, activities?

I have read all the brochures from the properties, but what really counts is first hand experienced from someone who has stayed there.

Thanks

Personally I would not stay in the Taveuni area in Jan/Feb which is the rainy season. It's not known as The Garden Isle for nothing - those plants grow so lush and green because it gets lots more rain than the Mamanucas & Yasawas. We stayed at Qamea some years ago in June and it rained all but 1 day out of 10, mainly in the afternoon. We then discovered that they'd had no rain in the Yasawas at all through this time. The rain however is warm and we still had a wonderful holiday.

How does the diving compare at these resorts? Is there a better place to go for diving in February? This may be a really dumb question, but can you still dive in the rain?

The diving off Taveuni (so either Taveuni or Qamea - which is just off Taveuni Island) is better than the Yasawas. It's deeper and has a wider range of fish and corals.
You can of course dive in the rain, but the visibility is reduced due to reduced sunlight.
