Dan, if you do a search on the site of the Queensland Auto Assoc.
http://www.RACQ.com.au you will possibly find addresses of their offices where you can get an excellent publication for a few dollars of all the caravan parks and their ratings.
Peg.

Hi Dan,

Are you actually towing a van or just driving and want to stay in onsight vans/cabins?

When are you doing this trip? Did you want to take the New England route or the Pacific HWY route from Bribane to Sydney?

The Hunter vineyard region is split into two distinct areas the Upper hunter vinyards and the Lower Hunter vineyards. Depending on your time restrictions I would recommend focusing on the Lower Hunter vineyard area, it has the most vineyards within cooee of each other whereas the Upper Hunter vineyards are a lot more spread out.

Here is a website that you might find helpful for the Hunter Valley Wine region:

http://www.winecountry.com.au/home.htm

You will find caravan parks listed under accommodation.

Hope this helps
We've travelled this route towing a caravan several times. Here are some of our favourites. The Hideaway at Mission Beach - over the road from the beach; Capricorn Palms at Yeppoon near Rockhampton; Cania Gorge for the birds and wildlife; Bougainivillea Caravan Park at Tewantin on the Sunshine Coast; Tallebudegra Creek park on the Gold Coast; Urunga Heads caravan park just south of Coffs Harbour; Anna Bay caravan park at Port Stephens.
Here are websites for two caravan park chains - www.big4.com.au and http://toptourist.contact.com.au.
Be glad to help you with any more information.

Thanks Peg, Paul and Marg:
I will be in a two-berth campervan, leaving Port Douglas on Nov 25, hoping to be in sydney starting Dec 3. We're looking to spend 3 days in the wine region, grab a B&B for at least one night, spend a day touring wineries (any recommendations? - limo, bike, horse carriage, etc) and look for some national parks to hike as well.

New England or Pacific route: no decisions yet. Figured we'd look at the weather and follow what looked interesting. The lower region of Hunter looks better right now. Thanks for all the web sites!!
