Port Douglas Honeymoon in Oct

We've decided to include a week in PD for our honeymoon in October. Other than the Mirage, Peninsula & Rydges, anyone have any romantic suggestions by the water? Any help would be greatly appreciated. We'd even be up for 5-10 minutes away from PD since we'll have a car.

Thala Beach Lodge might be your place! When we drove in (after a ten hour drive) we were ushered graciously into the open air "lobby" overlooking rainforest type trees and the beautiful Coral Sea for a cool, fruity beverage. The views were magical and the property is truly stunning. The staff makes you feel as if you are the only guest in the world and they are wonderful! (Paul and Frances were the best.) The food (we had breakfast and dinner) is some of the best we had during our entire 3 week trip to Australia. Also, during dinner one night, a snake was entertaining the diners at eye level. We loved it. The rooms and patios are spacious, although not fancy, they were perfect for us. The pools are gorgeous, as is the stretch of private beach... we are early risers and had the beach to ourselves each morning. I think you'll be happy if you try it! GOod luck!

what is wrong with the peninsula. We loved it and thought it was the most beautiful place we have stayed at.

Agree with moneygirl. Thala is spectacular-having spent a few days there with my family recently. Don't miss it.

Hi there,
We had a month in Australia in April for our honeymoon. We spent the last week at the Sebel Reef Hotel in Palm Cove, about 30 mins south of Port Douglas. The hotel is unique - visit their website and have a look, but it doesn't capture all this hotel offers. It was the perfect romantic end to our honeymoon.

Good luck,

Anna

08162, I agree the Sebel Reef is very, very nice, (especially the Sea Trout at the restaurant), but the town is quite small, (very romantic), so Port Douglas seemed better for our needs. We also lucked out and booked a flight out to Lizard Island for a day with Daintree Air. Look into it, for sure. Your won't be disappointed, trust me. Daintreeair.com Email Greg. Have fun

We stayed at the Treetops Resort 5 mins out of PD and a 2 min walk to '4 mile beach'. Treetops was amazing, we even got upgraded because we too were on Honeymoon (last Nov 2002). Port Douglas as a resort was fantastic. Hope you enjoy where you end up! Simon
