Port Douglas Accomodation Advice - Beaches, Boathouse, or Regal
Has anyone stayed at Beaches on the esplandade? Or the Boathouse on Murphy Street? Or Regal on Macrossan?
I can't decide which is better. I'll be going there in November and need to make reservations soon! thanks!

John -

I just got back from Port Douglas and while I didn't stay in any of these complexes, I'll offer a note on their locations. Beaches would be adjacent to the beach and a few blocks from the main street of Port Douglas where the shops and restaurants are located. Boathouse and Regal are both along the main street, in the rear of the shops and restaurants. Therefore, if you want to be right on the beach, go to Beaches. If you don't mind being in the middle of the nightlife (mild that it is), the other two would be the better location. Port Douglas is a great place - I really loved it.
Martha
Beaches is a lovely place. We stayed next door at the PDTerrace. They are beach front and all you do is walk across the esplanade to the beach and what a beautiful view at sunrise and sunset. You can walk to Macrosan Blvd or call a cab and they will be there in 5min to pick you up. Everything about PD is great.

I stayed at the boathouse about 3 weeks ago and I loved it. The rooms are large and spacious the decor funky and the staff very helpful and pleasant. the beach is less than five minutes away and its in the middle of all the restaurants and cafes but set back of the street so that there is no street noise

hi john,
i stayed at the boathouse in january. i loved it. loads of room, comfortable and very nicely appointed. full kitchen, washer and dryer, even an imac, if you're so inclined. it's a 5 minute walk to the beach and really close to everything.
