Hi Amy,
I no longer live in Adelaide but I was born and brought up there, my family still live there.
I would highly recommend that you stay at the Stamford Grand in Moseley Sqaure in Glenelg. It is right on the beach front and Adelaide's best beach suburb. It is a 20min tram ride into the city right from your hotel door step. You could stay in the city, but it's not worth the choice - Stamford Grand you won't regret the position and it is a biiig hotel with a rooftop pool overlooking the sea. Great shops, restaurants and beaches in Glenelg.

Hi again Amy,
I have recently booked a holiday to Australia (I now live in London) and I booked my hotels through www.travelmall.com.au
They have been extremely helpful and their website lists a whole lot of great hotels. You can always write to them for advice. My contact there is Brooke - [email protected]
She has been a fantastic help and advised us on our choice of hotel. They are based in Sydney so they have most likely seen the hotels themselves, but they do have lists of hotels for all over Australia.

I don't understand why you are staying in both Cairns and Port Douglas. They are less than an hour apart by car. Remember, Cairns is a fairly large city without beaches, etc. It's easier to get to the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree from Port Douglas. How about staying on one of the islands or in the rainforest? We did both and enjoyed it greatly. Silky Oaks is a wonderful place to stay.

In Sydney stay at 'The Russell Hotel' at the Rocks - has the best position or if you are staying for the full 6 nights at one place then I would check the web-site for apartments in Sydney. You will be able to get an apartment ( they used to be called the Park Apartments or Park Plaza Apartments but the name is slightly changed now) These apartments have kitchen, dining area, bedroom and lounge. You can do your washing and ironing and make some meals if you wish. The cost of these are no more than a hotel and they are very well situated near transport and city. I am going to book them for next month when I am in Sydney if my relatives are out of town. I agree with the person who questioned you staying in Cairns for 3 nights - perhaps you could check out a 3 night cruise of the Barrier Reef or stay on an Island before going to PD.
As for Adelaide I don't know the city well and all I know about Kangaroo Island is the book that I have, written by the ships surgeon in 1839, who said that no human should ever go there!! But I am sure its changed :0)
Back to North Queensland: Friends of ours from the UK did a 3 night cruise of the reef and said it was fantastic.

Hi Amy,

My partner and I have just returned from a great trip staying at a central apartment with Sydney's most sensational harbour views. Check it out http://www.khsnet.com/apart902 You should also catch the Sydney Explorer bus as you can hop on and off a lot of tourist sights all day for a day ticket. We also climbed the bridge and enjoyed the views up there. Manly is also worth a visit. Loved Sydney, we are saving to get back!

Sandy
