Why can't I find Sydney Campervan hire with late pick-up time?

We are deseparately trying to book a 5/6 berth campervan for the last week of our hols (1st week of April - yikes). However none of the companies seem to have pick-ups after 3pm/3:30pm and our internal flight doesn't arrive in until 3:35 which is too late. The latest we've seen is 4pm and most say the depots are a taxi ride from the airport. We really did not want to have to book another hotel waste another half day/day of our precious holiday. Has anyone had any experience of this or give any advice please?

The first week in April is Easter AND School Holidays.
Which company are you trying? The three main one are Britz, Maui and Apollo. I have looked at all their websites and see your problem. I will give them a call and get back to you.

Stay tuned.

I just checked Apollo. They stay open longer (4.30pm) and are only 3km from airport. They may have a shuttle bus.

Stay tuned for more.

I rang Britz. The head office said that Sydney stays open til 4pm but returns must be finished by 3.30. This still does not give you enought time even if your flight is on time. Apollo should be OK though.

They put me through to the Sydney office but it rang out. I can't ring interstate from work (can't even call to the next town without going through the front office!) so will call them when I get home. I have emailed them.

They are located 3.5 km from the Domestic Airpot and according to their website it will cost about $12 for a taxi. OR one of you can walk!

Maui, Britz, Backpacker and Explore More are all owned by the same company.

peterSale is right about all the pickup info.
Note that Backpacker has been re-branded to Mighty Campers.
Britz, Mighty and Maui are the big companies in Sydney. There are smaller ones like Camperman that offer after hours pickup - for a fee. You can quickly compare all of them in one place, visit http://www.mydriveholiday.com/austra...campervan-hire

Thank you both for the web links and all your efforts on our behalf. We eventually found out that even 4:30 would be no good as handovers take about an hour. We've now made an on-line booking and await confirmation. So fingers crossed we'll be ok, but I'd better wait before I post for ideas on where to visit! Many thanks again.

I rang Britz before opening this thread. If your plane arrives on time they will be there til 4pm, but will not stay open if you are late. She was not particularly helpful.

Is there any chance of you taking an earlier flight?

I hope all goes well for you.
