Please help - opinion on liveaboards needed!
I've been researching liveaboards for diving in the GBR in Jan 2008. I was ready to book a trip with Spirit of Freedom (for DH and I), based on the glowing reviews here on the boards. Unfortunately, they do no have any availability for a standard twin/double cabin, and can only offer us quad share cabins. I'm a bit hesitant on doing a quad share (I like socializing during the day but like my space at night ). So now I am down to the following choices:
- quad share on Spirit of Freedom (4 day Coral Sea, up to 16 dives)
- standard twin on Taka (Cod Hole/Coral Sea trip, 4 full days diving, 15 dives inc 2 night dives)
- club space (twin share bunk) with Mike Ball (4-night Coral Sea expedition, 14 dives)
Is one choice overwhelmingly better than the others? Please advise.

Hi Jm,
First of all, did you ask to be put on a waitlist with Spirit of Freedom (it's a long time before January, and there could be cancellations).
Like you, I wouldn't been too keen on sharing a quad; the other companies you mentioned Taka and Mike Ball are both excellent companies.
Hope this is helpful.

Jmoy,
good that you're on the waitlist!
Might I just suggest that you contact them from time to time as well? It's been my experience that even though I have clients waitlisted for something, it can "fall through the cracks" as personnel changes, people don't read the remarks in a booking, etc.
If you don't have a travel agent looking out for your interest, you need to be proactive in looking out for your own and not completely trust the waitlist process!
