Perth and surrounds is absolutely stunning!!!
Been to Perth and found out that this a wonderful place along with its surrounds. In fact, I enjoyed Perth ova Sydney. Heres why:
1. Perth is cleaner with less graffiti
2. Perthians are friendlier
3. Free buses along Perth city centre and Freo
4. Smorgasbord bkfast in Miss Mauds and "fried chicken" steak at Aarons Hotel:
4. Swan bells at ferry point. Nice archi
5. Lots of natural wonders such as Wave Rock & Pinnacles. The Wave rock rocks!
5. Cute Quokkas that can be found only in ROttnest island.
6. Ningaloo Reef. Looks like Great barrier reef.
7. Monkey Mia where dolphins swim around you.
I enjoyed my trip. Check it out!!!

I'm from Perth and now live in the States, so it's nice to hear positive feedback about the "most isolated city in the world".
I believe Perth is one of the best places to live. It has most of the advantages of being a city, but not as many of the problems of a big city. Each time I return I notice the changes as it continues to grow. Change is good but sometimes brings it's problems.
I remember as a kid, the house was hardly ever locked, and if it was, the key was under the mat. Nowadays, my parents keep the house locked even when they are home. Double locked usually.
But it is still a friendly place, where people will hold open doors, offer to give lifts, buy shouts at the pub.
I tell my American friends if you only go to Oz once, do the East Coast. But if you get a chance to come back, visit Perth, you won't regret it!

Well, Interesting at least. I heard it once described as a cockroach mounting a stick insect.
Anyway, my suggestion to potential wave rock visitors is avoid the wave rock tours and hire a car. With a 4WD you can drive through to Norseman and up to Kalgoorlie and theres a few other sights on the way (The local shires now have guides for the road between Wave Rock and Norseman) or alternatively go South from Wave rock and come back along the south coast, well worth it and links well into Albany, the Jarrah forests and up to Margret River.
