online travel
I've noticed that some online travel companies are quite cheaper than going directly through the hotel. Has anyone had good luck with any of the online travel companies? Any bad experiences? Thanks in advance!

If you're talking about discount hotel reservation sites like www.wotif.com, you can get some pretty good deals. I did read a report from somebody who booked that way and then discovered that they could have obtained a better rate from the hotel in question on the day - but I think that would be the exception rather than the rule.

We've used www.jasons.com for accommodation bookings. For general travel information, try www.travelmate.com.au which has a link to www.needitnow.com (au?) for discount accommodation.

Thank you for everyone's help. It seems that the hotel we are interested in have never heard of the travel mall or great-barrier-reef.com. It made me a little nervous to use them. Thanks for the other suggestions
