One week In Perth (+ Great ocean drive) or Tasmania in Dec?

Hello! We are planning to take a week off in early December and are wondering if a trip to Melbourne along with the great ocean drive makes sense. We will be traveling with our son who will be 2.5 years old then.

We live in Singapore now, so, we prefer milder weather - pleasant days during our vacations! Will Melbourne be too hot in early Dec? Is one week too long for Melbourne and the great ocean drive? How would this compare to spending the week in Tasmania? While we do not want our vacation to be too rushed (particularly since we are going with our toddler), we would want to have enough to see / do. Our interests are natural beauty, culture and history.

As always, thanks to everybody in this forum for all the help!

Sorry, the title should have been "One week in Melbourne" and not Perth!

Tasmania would be the better option for all those things PLUS it has milder weather than Melbourne.

As December is a change of season month it is possible to get quite hot at the start of the December but it is much more likely to only be mild, possibly even cool. Generally speaking, the hot months are January, February and March. Tasmania, of course, is likely to be even cooler than Melbourne, may be even a bit too cool if your little one wants to play on the beaches.

Regardless, I think you would enjoy your time regardless of whether you choose Melbourne or Tasmania.
