one week in Auckland,NZ
I will be in Auckland for one week for a clinical trial arriving on a Sunday and leaving on Friday for a total of 5 days. I only have free time after 5 pm. Any suggestions on what to do and where to go?

Sky Tower. Head down to the waterfront and see if you can catch a dinner cruise. Maybe a pub crawl (but maybe with a clinical trial the main business this is a no-go). There will be lots of free info at the airport, pick up a calendar for the month with entertainment listings.
Most if not all museums are going to close at 5pm.
Really depends what time of year you are going and when it gets dark.

Mlgb, thanks for the reply. I'm supposed to get there on Sunday around 5 am. I'll have all day free though coming from a 13 hr flight, I'm not sure I'll be in the mood for exploring. I fly back on Friday, July 30 at 7 pm.

Just returned from a week in and around NZ. This is what you can do after 5 pm.
Be sure to rent a car first.
Drive to the top of Mt.Eden.
Drive along Tamaki Drive if there is still light.
The Sky Tower at twilight.
Catch a game of rugby. If a Test match is on, that'll be even better. Don't miss the 'haka' at the start. Nothing like it to get your pulse racing.
Shop in Parnell village if that's your scene.
Nightspots in 'K' road, again if that's your scene.
Kelly Tarlton's aquatic wonderland.
If you are going in summer, any of the beaches like St.Heliers.
Cruise to Rangitoto, Devonport etc.
