OSB sounds like his return is unexpected. Hope everything is okay. My DD and SIL have just arrived in New York after their cruise ship experience.
Hope you make it to New Zealand some day. Would have a GTG with you if you are ever in the Nelson area.

Aw, that's a nice offer, nelsonian. Maybe one day I'll be able to take you up on it. 
Yes, as far as I know, he was just very homesick & work was petering out due to the recession.
Some say he's coming back early because he just couldn't stand not seeing the University of AL football games. But, I think he was able to keep up pretty close while over there.
He tells me he missed our warm beaches the most - but he's coming back at a time when they aren't at their warmest.
