Need help finalizing Trip / Cairnes / Adelaide

Hi folks I need you help with a couple of recommnedations.

1. I need 2 nights accomodations in Cairnes, these 2 nights will be before and after going to Lizard Island for 3 nights. So we want something decent but not as over the top as Lizard Island.

2. I have 3 nights 4 days in Adelaide. We're thinking about doing the B&B thing in Barrossa Valley. Looking for a recommendation for that. Not opposed to staying in Adelaide 1 night and then 2 in Barrossa Valley but maybe you'll talk me out of it.

We're going for 3 1/2 weeks and this is all I have left to book, Help!

Thanks in Advance,

Mark

In Cairns, we stayed at the Best Western Acacia Court Hotel. It is a little ways out of the center of town, but right on the water. The walk in to the main part of town is about 20 minutes. The rooms were quite large and comfortable. We booked it through Expedia and got a good rate (of course that's because we're old !). We were there in June and paid $85 USD for an ocean view room. I would recommend it. It would NOT, however, recommend eating in the hotel restaurant. The seafood buffet that they had there was really mediocre (at best!) and expensive. There are lots of better places to eat in town. We just walked along the main drag and looked at menus until we found one that looked interesting. Can't remember it's name, unfortunately, but anything would be better than the buffet.

We have stayed at Strathlyn B & B in Angaston. Lovely rooms and near Vintners which is a very nice place to eat. http://www.strathlyn.com.au/.

Also, we have heard good things about the Peppers Resort. There are many B & B's and you can have a look here :

Don't miss Rockford, Henske and Langmeil wineries. Tanunda has the 1918 restuarant - nice for lunch - or try a picnic plate at Lehmann's winery.

In Adelaide we like the Majestic Roof Garden Hotel for position near Rundle Street which has lots of places to eat and shop.Look at wotif.com.au for cheap and tripadvisor.com for reviews of all hotels/apartments etc.

Adelaide Central Market runs Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (Tuesdays too, but it is quiet!) and is worth a look.

Hope you enjoy you visit!

G'day Mark,
just a suggestion regards the Barossa Valley.
The Barossa valley has been promoted forever. Yet only a few KM north of it is the Clare Valley that has been established just as long and produces wines that rival those of the Barossa Vally.
If in the Barossa and you drive just a little further north to the Clare Valley there is the
Rising Sun Hotel, Auburn, Ph: (08) 8849 2015
Main North Rd., Auburn SA 5451
Accommodation with that 'Old World Charm'
http://www.sahotels.com.au/risingsunauburn/index.asp

I can highly recommend this establishement.
They also have a good kitchen and you can mingle with the Locals at the bar
Next door there is a Top Restaurant, I think it's "Tatehams Restaurant".
Just a few Km's south of Auburn is "Seven Hills"
One of the winery's there was established by the Jesuits in 1851 and is still operated by them. I always take my customers there and they love it, details here:

Enjoy,
Mike
