Guys, did you bring binoculars with you on your trips? What magnification and objective are your binoculars and are they useful? Do you need them to see penguins, seals, etc. at the Catlins?

Lee Ann, I'll do a google. As much as I love the Tim Tam's though, I'm not willing to pay an arm and a leg. SO I'll see.

Chenoa, yes I did take my binoculars and I was so glad I did.
Mine are just the little hiking ones that fit in your pocket. Not that strong really, but handy to pack and they worked well enough. I think they can be purchased fairly cheaply now. ..maybe $30 to $50 ( I think).
I really enjoyed them when seeing the penguins and the seals.
