Melbourne Hotel or B&B for Two ??

Hi, The two of us ladies will be flying into Melbourne and taking the train NE the next morning. We would love an idea for a Bed and Breakfast or nice smaller hotel.

Really appreciate any feedback from local or recent travelers. Thanks, Deb and Pat

Hi Deb and Pat,
My guess is your train will leave from Spencer St Station and I'm not aware of any B&B's near that end of town but if you don't mind being a bit further away, try King's (Carlton, about 10 mins walk into town) or Magnolia Court (East Melb, same distance). It sounds like you don't have much time in Melb so may be better of staying at a hotel near the station. Try www.citysearch.com.au for hotels.
Have a great stay.

Kay, thank you for the quick response. I will try to find out more about KINGS and the Magnolia Court. Do you have Web sites or phone numbers.?

Distance is not an issue.

thanks again, deb

Deb,
Websites are:
http://www.kingaccomm.com.au/
http://babs.com.au/magnoliacourt/

I stayed at Magnolia Court a few years ago and it was fine, nothing fancy. We stayed in the old section, I think there is a new section as well. If you walk across the Treasury and Fitzroy Gardens to the city at dusk, there are heaps of possums about!

Have not stayed at Kings, but a friend did recently and loved it. It is a magnificent old building, opposite the Carlton Gardens, the Exhibition Building and the new Museum. If you stay there, have a walk along Lygon St, it is packed with restaurants.

There are heaps of other places, I'm sure, but these two seem pretty good.
