Which island is better for a couple that enjoys diving, snorkeling, swimming, hiking and exploring? Which resort would be better, Matangi Island or Taveuni Island Resort, for a honeymoon? Matangi seems pretty popular on this sight -- has anyone stayed at both places? Any thoughts?

You have to fly in and out of Taveuni in order to stay at Matangi. I thought Matangi was wonderful - highly recommended. Some of our fellow guests at Matangi were staying there a few days and then moving on to resorts on Taveuni and/or other islands closer to Nadi. <BR> <BR>I suggest you do the same. Start at Matangi and work your way back. Hard to go wrong with Fiji. <BR>

I stayed at Taveuni dive resort about 5 years ago. <BR>The diving was the best I have experienced anywhere in the world and I have done about 200 dives all over the place. <BR>Fiji at the moment presents incredible bargains with 5o% discounts being the order of the day. <BR>Shop around! <BR>I have not been to Matangi. <BR>

Matangi is my wife's favorite place in Fiji and Taveuni is very close. Most places will likely dive in the same general areas. It is a hard choice in that area. We like Matangi because of the two generation family ownership of the island. This creates an atmosphere different than most places. We have visited Taveuni but we have never stayed there. We would vote for Matangi but we have not gone on a honeymoon for 5 days short of 50 years. If we went to Matangi, we would pick a deluxe bure over a tree house as we like the added space.

Eric, My fiancee and I are going to Fiji in April and will be spending 9 nights at Matangi Island Resort. I've heard nothing but excellent reviews and can't wait for our honeymoon! We will be staying in one of their cliff-top bures ~ I wanted an outdoor shower! I don't know if it will be too late, but I'll give you a review when I return. Best of luck!
