Lizard Island Reservations
Thanks to Dawn's trip reports I think I have most of my honeymoon for next June/July planned. We're hoping to include 3-4 nights at Lizard. Are reservations for Lizard only made directly with P&O? Is there another way to make reservations that would be less than making them directly with the resort? Also, how far in advance should the reservations be made?
Thanks!
Thanks!

well . . . I booked directly myself then after deciding to book the rest of the trip through Swain . . . we rolled the reservation up under that booking. I would book directly with them and remember to ask for suite 39 or 40 if you want the extra private ones! : )
Have fun. . . I am glad you were able to get some help from the trip report! I too booked it all from the help of these boards!

Dawn F - I would love to know what makes Lizard so special. We are a fmily of 3 Husband, wife and grown son (27) and 2 of us want to dive and one will snorkel. It will cost us 1500 USdollars per night and that doesn't include the diving. We are trying to decide if it is worth this expense. Can you help us decide? Thanks Judy By the way have you been on Heron island or Lady Elliot?

A Google search quickly produced the website for P&O Resorts. Try www.poresorts.com.au.

I choose to stay at Lizard Island for my honeymoon. When choosing a destination, my husband and I wanted to be able to have the fun and adventure of a typical vacation, the ability to dive, a once in a lifetime trip and the remote seclusion I always dreamed about for my honeymoon. Our searches kept ending with Australia and we did Sydney, Port and then a week on Lizard to have the best of both worlds.
I don't think Lizard is worth the money to go if you are only going for good diving. If I were to make diving my reason for hitting the GBR area I would have done one of the liveaboards they offer that maximize time on the reef and fit that into our itinerary somehow. If I was only so so in to diving, and didn't need (or it wasn't a top priority ) to have the romantic/seclusion offered by Lizard then I wouldn't have booked it. Our decision came down to what was more important diving or romantic seclusion. We choose Lizard cause ( for a price ) we could get both!
Hope this helps. . .more questions welcomed . . sorry it took so long to respond. . . Dawn
