Kiwi travel site- prices too good to be true?

I was told about this website here on Fodors- www.houseoftravel.co.nz. The inter New Zealand airfares are quite a bit cheaper than the Air New Zealand site or kayak.com. Should I feel ok about buying tickets through them?

Hi again. Yes I put you onto these chaps. PLEASE be assured that this is a large and reputable Kiwi company. We have used them many times to book hols in the Pacific region and also flights within NZ. I do hope some other NZer will confirm my words.

Take a good look at the House of Travel website - "about us." - a good answer to your question.
Air NZ is simply chasing the tourist $. You will be fine booking thru this NZ company.

Zinfanatic~No worries! As an American living in New Zealand, I can confirm that House of Travel is a legitimate business. I haven't used them, however, I'm looking into doing so for an upcoming trip to Asia.

Hi All, I actually found all the same prices on the NZ site for Air NZ as the House of travel site. I was puzzled by the need to select an "outlet"-someplace I had to go if I had a problem???? The Air Nz site www.airnewzealand.co.nz as opposed to the "US" site airnewzealand.com and kayak.com ended up being about 1/2 price between the difference in price stated and the conversion from NZ$ and US$. Thanks all. Zin

I'm still confused about the difference in price between the sites. Would you tell us what are the figures?

Jed, I will give you an example based on one flight- Auckland - Wellington. On the www.houseoftravel.co.nz and the www.airnewzealand.co.nz sites there was a supersaver fare available one way for NZ$89-or approximately $71 US. On the airnewzealand.com site the cheapest one way fare offered- no supersavers offered! is $184 US.So it was $71 vs $184 US- though they were not the same category of fares. For my planning two one way tickets from Auckland to Wellington and two one way tickets from Dunedin to Auckland(same as multicity ticket), it worked out to be about 1/2 on the amount. Hope this explains it.

Jed, I tried yesterday to go to www.airnewzealand.co.nz but was "blocked" from booking- thought maybe the site was down. I went again today to try and could not, so you have to do one of two things- go to www.houseoftravel.co.nz or www.tourism.net.nz and they have a link to air new zealand from which I booked. Thanks again heathy for the your help! Zin
