Anil - are you concerned that Antarctic conditions might adversely affect the camera's operation? Other than that, I would assume any camera would work ....

The book referred to above is called Antarctica on a Plate by Alexa Thomson. I no longer have the book but am pretty sure this is the right one. It's about an Australian woman who goes to Antarctica to work as a cook. She seemed quite unprepared for what was in front of her.
