I'm spending too much time in The Lounge, so I'm back for a visit...

And you know why Kiwis are bushytailed?
All the possums they down without even skinning them.
Some might think that a bit stupid when you think of all the Peterheaters they could make but those smart Kiwis they just wrap that bush tail around for a multitude of uses!
Might tickle a bit!

Sally, I'm sure that is a difficult thing for you with your mom. My mom was in assisted living at the Chateau in Bothell...do you know it? It was a lot tougher when she had to go to the nursing home, but we were very lucky to have very caring people around her.
Sorry, I should have said Rio Grande Valley--way south Texas. Then we took several days up the coast, stopping at South Padre Island, Corpus Christi, Rockport, then finally to our friend in Nederland just across the border from Louisiana.
Let's see, how to link to Australian travel? Hmm. John Newcombe's Tennis Ranch? We drove past New Braunfels where that is located, so there is some very faint link to Australia, right?

Toucan, you left the Lounge but still loungish kind of chatting, so don't know if it solved your problem: time on the computer instead of time travelling. Just talking with and reading notes from Aussies helps, when you miss the place. Have you been to South Australia, Victoria, Tassie or WA? Which did you like best?

LOL you are so right Sally. But the residents here seem much more civil in general.
I haven't been to any of those other states. I really want to go to WA, especially during wildflower season, and especially after reading all of Meln8Q's (sp?) trip reports from the area. I've just been to parts of NSW and Queensland so far.

I'm just as sad as the rest of you.
I have no travel plans at present. Europe trip has gone by the board for a while. I stick my head in here to see who's about.
Doesn't seem to be many people travelling these days.
Come on back!

Ah, Melnq8, you know I want to come to WA! I am sure I will, someday
Hi Melodie!
Margo_oz, I feel your pain, with travel plans on hold. And, it's true that all the Australians I know are absolutely charming, so I am hoping it is a representative sample!
Like Sally said, visiting here on the forum is a way to continue feeling a connection to this place we loved so much, and plan on returning to one day.
My husband has a little tennis racquet stringing business on the side, and he told me this week we could take a little money out of that and go on vacation, but it is not enough to make the trip to Oz. I'm thinking about Big Bend, Texas in the winter. Not quite the same, but still a place I have always wanted to visit.
