Help! Travel Within South-East Asia
I am arriving in Bangkok (from Vancouver) and departing from Bali in February, 1998. Does anyone know if it is easier to fly within South-East Asia or take the train? Also, would you recommend booking inter-flights from home or as you go?

I've flown within Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia and Vietnam. You can research flights here on the net, but booking there has been easy enough. Most SEA airlines are government controlled anyway so you don't really save anything by buying your tickets here. Trains are always an adventure, buses are usually cheaper, faster and nicer. Flying, however, is always great if you can afford it and don't have much time. We used a great, honest agent in Bangkok last year. Drop me a line for more into.

The travel agent is Ms Saowalak Wongsrirat (Nathalie) at RIS Nathalie Travel, 206 Khaosan Road, Banglumpoo, Bangkok. Phone: (662)6292560. Her tiny office is easy to miss and next to the Nana Plaza Hotel. The building across the street has two large stone lions at the foot of the staircase. Nathalie speaks English and her husband is Canadian. He is well-travelled in SEA. Both are very honest and very nice.

My husband and I spent April/May/June 97 in S.E.Asia. Suggest train from Bangkok to Singapore. Student Travel Assoc. in Singapore is cheapest for flights to Australia, Borneo and Bali - do not need to be young to use them. Would be happy to give info on a wonderful part of the world.
