Help For an Uni Student staying in Perth

Heya... I am a 19 year old gal and I am planning on studying abroad in Perth (or there abouts) from January to June... I've got a few buds within 20 minz of my Uni but I dont neccesarily want to depend on them to entertain me for in excess of 6 months Can anyone from the area give me some tips (or forwarning for that matter) on whats fun for killing time (provided I have ne left over from study ^.^)
I have my private pilots license (heard it is expensive to fly tho) and I am a licensed scuba diver (altho I like my limbs where they are at the moment) and I take karate - if that helped at all ~
Thanks for your time and help!
Ooroo,
KitKat

Our son studied in Perth last year for 6 months. He surfs, so spent a lot of time at the nice beaches. I know he liked Rottnest Island. They traveled to Margaret River a couple of times--it was one of his favorite places. They took a camping tour through the university up to the northern part of Western Australia, and into the outback. Also frequented the clubs in Northbridge. There seemed to be a lot students everywhere when we visited--can't believe you will have trouble finding things to do. Hope this is a bit helpful--nobody else seems to be going to post to you.

I should have mentioned how MUCH our son enjoyed Perth--I was glad that he decided to return home at the end rather than remain in Australia. I was a bit worried. Good luck, hope you enjoy it also.

He was at Murdoch--and is a history major back here in the states. He enjoyed Murdoch, but commented at one point that were he to do it again, might look at the U.of Western Australia--mostly because, I believe, it is closer to Perth. Good luck!

Hi there
I go to Curtin Uni in Perth and live here. Yeah Perth is an isolated city but there is plenty of entertainment oppurtunities within Perth. The Uni I go to has about 1/3rd of all students from other countries so KitKat you won't be alone!

Thanks magic
How do you like Curtin by the way? Heard it is a nice place!
Oh and just out of curiosity - how is the best way to get around? I am used to driving on the right side of the road so that could be a tad problematic ;p
Thanks again
-Ashley

Hi KitKat

The universities in Perth follow a definite "pecking order". UWA is definitely considered the top so if you get accepted there take it.

Curtin and Murdoch are also good - next in line - followed by Edith Cowan.
