Hi there!
I just posted a trip report on my visit to Hamilton Island, Australia. It's in the Whitsunday island chain. There's Koala photos also...you know you want to look!!!

Nice one, Luther - thanks.
We do love our koalas. Sometimes they do drink water, though. Did you see this clip from last year's bushfires in Victoria?

Hi Lukerb -
I've never been to Hamilton Island, but your photo essay was so comprehensive that now I feel I have been! I very much enjoyed your photos and now I'm going back to look at more of your travels.
Thanks for posting!

Hi Lukerb,
You might be interested to note that when the island first opened, that big swimming pool actually had dolphins in it! The original owner - Keith Williams - also started up Sea World on the Gold Coast and I think he took a couple of the dolphin residents from Sea World to Hamilton Island. I was there when the dolphins were in residence.
Just another aside - a bit unrelated - but we had a friend who worked at Sea World many, many, years ago and he was married on the Endeavour Replica there and actually had a dolphin as his best man - the dolphin jumped up to the side of the ship with the ring case in his mouth.
We live in a 'koala corridor' and it's always a special moment when we get to see a koala up close and personal. I've actually had one walk right down our street on the road on his way to the nearby park!

Hi Stormbird!
Thanks for the interesting note. I LOVE Dolphins and would have been in heaven if I had gotten a chance to see them. Although, seeing them in a swimming pool would have made me feel bad for them. The intelligence of Dolphins remains amazing to me, and having one be able to do such a feat is even more amazing.
Since I'm living out in the desert at the moment, the only things we've had walk down on the streets is the occasion Bighorn Sheep, I certainly had rather have Koalas though!
Thanks again,
Luther
