Great Ocean Road (GOR) Where to stay?
Hello,
We are planning a two night trip, first night Apollo Bay, then Port Campbell/Peterborough. We don't want a campground or self-catered apartment. We'd like a hotel preferably with a restaurant (or one close by). It looks like there are a lot of places in Apollo Bay, but not so much on the other side. From what I've read Port Fairy is too far to travel for night 2. We'd then go back to Melbourne and stay by the Airport. If we can get a flight out of Avalon is there a good place to stay there? The main airport has a lot of hotels near by.
Thanks,
Carl

Avalon Airport is closer to Geelong, so you would get a good standard of accomodation there with restaurants and pubs to eat. Avalon airport is a regional airport.
Apollo Bay is a good place to stay, Lorne has better options. Port Campbell and the surrounding towns are small mainly agricultural places, with limited food options.
This is a really beautiful area, but quiet particularly in the winter months.
